Find your special something.
Until scientists figure out time travel, I think I came upon the next best thing. The Paris Flea Market is the largest antique market in the entire world. It is comprised of 15 individual markets, with over 2,500 unique stands in total. Located in the town of Saint Ouen, it is just a metro ride away from the city center.
The minute you step inside, it is impossible to not feel the stories all around you. Suddenly you are trying on clothing from before you were born, gawking at jewelry older than your grandparents, and admiring woodwork from before your country even existed.
The corridors feel as though they go on forever, and quite honestly, you want them to.
Each stand tells of a different interest, with some specializing in music, others in art, or even old video games. You quickly realize there is something for everyone. The best part of it, however, is when you find that special something that is for you.
I spent the afternoon in the market with my sister, Ainsley. The two of us were particularly interested in any and all things shiny. We spent hours searching for the perfect chandelier, beautifully detailed mirrors, or jewelry that we could never afford. But despite never actually having any of it, you feel special just being a part of it.
For just a few hours of your day, you really are in a different time, or several different times, actually. I encourage everyone to get lost in it, to listen to the stories in the walls, and to search for your special something.
